![]() ![]() During the raid, in combat over the target area, Brandon is impressed by Archer's piloting skills and Howard's judgment. ![]() On the morning of the mission Brandon's plane crashes, and Brandon is forced to board a bomber manned by Archer and Howard. Nevertheless, it is scheduled to go ahead as planned. The raid's prospects seem dim when it is revealed that the Germans know some, and possibly all, of its important details. As the date draws closer Brandon further antagonizes his associates, as well as his girlfriend, WAC Lieutenant Gabrielle Ames ( Laraine Stephens). Brandon starts out resenting Howard's brash manner, and things get worse between them when Howard takes Archer on an unauthorized flying lesson. An RAF Wing Commander Trafton Howard (Gary Marshal) has been assigned to Brandon's base to teach the squadron combat tactics. He has disdain for cautious young flyer Lieutenant Archer ( Ben Murphy), who he suspects of being a coward. During preparation for the raid, Brandon alienates them further by insisting that they step up their training. In spite of the mission's extreme difficulty and risk, his plan is eventually put into effect against a vital enemy aircraft factory in central Germany.īrandon has never been popular with his men, many of whom feel he drives them too hard. In 1943, Colonel Greg Brandon ( Christopher George), stationed at a United States Army Air Forces 8th Air Force, 103rd Bomb Group base in England, attempts to persuade superiors that a massive, co-ordinated daylight bombing raid will hasten the end of World War II. Although claimed to be derived from Ralph Barker's The Thousand Plane Raid (also published as The Thousand Plan: the Story of the First Thousand Bomber Raids on Cologne), the storyline of the film inaccurately portrays the first raid as an 8th Air Force mission while the actual attack was undertaken by 1,047 Royal Air Force bombers against the city of Cologne, Germany in May 1942. Did I mention this film was both savage and insane? Remove the first half, and it's perfection.but we can't so it shall get a decent rating instead. The Thousand Plane Raid (also known as The One Thousand Plane Raid ) is a 1969 DeLuxe Color film directed by Boris Sagal and starring Christopher George and Laraine Stephens. Even the no nonsense dialogue was insanely savage. The use of blood and gore is ridiculously insane, great makeup effects. Some technical excellence from Evans, who performed such a great tracking shot that consists of going through 3 different cars in a chase scene. The action set pieces were creative, from decimating prisoners in mud to a frantic car chase in downtown Jakarta.majestic. Evidently, watching this is releasing my inner murderous personality. The choreography was perfection, I've never shouted "YEAH! STAB HIM!!" so much. The Indonesian Terminator from the predecessor has now been substituted by a hammer wielding deaf girl, a well aimed baseball bat wielding guy (who can kill by hitting baseballs with insane precision.) and the ultimate blade wielding badass since Blade himself. This, as an action film, is absolutely insane. So the long runtime and slow paced first half are my only complaints. Could've easily established the power hungry Uco, who has major daddy issues, in a solid 20 minutes as opposed to an hour. This did not need to be 150 minutes long, at all. I'll start with the negatives, the first half was an absolute drag. Massive props to Gareth Evans, I tip my SnapBack off to you sir! So in this sequel we follow our sole survivor, Rama, who must go undercover in order to protect his family from his new hardcore reputation that is making him popular in the criminal underworld. Martial arts have never looked this thrilling since.ever. ![]() Every kick, every punch and every head smash was filmed to absolute perfection. Ohhhhh myyyyyy lorddddd I couldn't keep me eyes off those fight scenes. The Raid 2 has the most insane choreography I've ever seen. ![]()
